Access Engineering

Tate Park (E'25), Yash Rajpal (C’26, E'26), Suhaila Shankar (C’25, E'25), and Jake Fanale (E'26) are expanding Access Engineering, a semester-long, weekend program on Penn’s campus that provides opportunities for high school students traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields to experience informative, empowering, and college-relevant STEM experiences. With the Shah Prize, Access Engineering will be able to accommodate more high school participants across Philadelphia, increase funding for outreach, and provide more supplies and materials for projects and activities.
EMT Certification Initiative

Hannah Cho (C'27)
Hannah Cho (C'27) is developing a program that will provide opportunities to local high school students to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). This initiative will collaborate with the Educational Pipeline Program, which works with high schools in West Philadelphia, as well as several other Penn and community partners to equip high school students with critical life-saving skills and offer a pathway to professional opportunities in healthcare.
SMART Teams

Vasu Shandar (W'25, C'25), Sahar Maleki (C'27), Annika Reeder-Holman (N'27) are implementing SMART Teams, in which groups of 4th- to 8th-grade students, with Penn student mentors, will work together to achieve collectively identified health goals. This program aims to empower West Philadelphia students to take an active role in improving their community’s health.
