5th Annual MLK Sports & Wellness Event
5th Annual MLK Sports & Wellness Event
Pottruck Fitness Center
3701 Walnut St.
Philadelphia, PA 19104
Rescheduled from January!
The mission of the MLK Symposium is to honor Dr. King and the principles he espoused through learning, service, and community engagement. For the fifth year running, the Young Quakers Community Athletics (YQCA) program is participating in this mission by promoting deeper bonds between Penn and the greater West Philadelphia area. During the MLK Sports & Wellness Event, local school-age children are invited onto the Penn campus to engage in sports, wellness and community service activities under the guidance and encouragement of Penn students. Attendees will participate in a service activity, climbing the rock wall, zumba and lacrosse clinic led by professional lacrosse player Damon Edwards from the New York Riptide. The event is co-sponsored and presented by Penn's Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics, the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, and the African-American Resource Center. The event is open to 4th-8th grade students at Comegys, Lea and Hamilton University-Assisted Community Schools.
